Something that you never get tired of hearing is, "food brings people together." It's a very simple saying or statement that has quite a deeper meaning. It lets us stay connected, helps us learn more about the foods we eat and helps us learn more about each other. Food lets us share our culture, learn one another's culture and of course, gives us comfort. One thing that brings me an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction is making a homemade meal for another person, or bringing something unique to a friend or family holiday party that gets half the party questioning if they should really eat what's in front of them, but they do it to be kind and respectful. Once they dig in, they are urging for a recipe or go ahead and get seconds before their spouses or children beat them to it. I love that feeling. The feeling that I get when I know I've expanded someone's palate, made them second guess their favorite flavor pairings and better yet, delivered a recipe that can truly bring friends, family and good company together. On Deck Foods was created for this purpose.

I can recall the first dinner party I hosted. My best friend who shares the same passion for food as I did not want to miss this party for the world, despite me living four hours away at the time and him being sandwiched between two double shifts at his full-time job. He didn't care. He was fully prepared to work alongside me as my sous chef and be there for a few hours to enjoy the four-course meal paired with wine. Since then, we've hosted dozens of dinner parties and now have those forever lasting memories to look back on. My passion for cooking has grown daily ever since the dinner party and on the other hand, sometimes not by choice. My wife loves to joke around and say, "I let him cook our meals every day because it makes him happy." Sure babe...coming from the one who made grilled chicken and sauteed vegetables for dinner and moments before serving it she stated "oh...I think I forgot to season the chicken and vegetables." Don't let her fool you, she can whip up a meal. She's clearly doing this for me so I can work on some new recipes, right?
